That’ll Do, Yanks

With its back against the wall, the United States Men’s National Team picked up a critical 1-0 win over visiting Jamaica at Columbus Crew Stadium in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday night. A Herculez Gomez free kick in the 55th minute was the difference in this one, though it was the type of match where the United States could have had three or four goals. The Yanks rattled three shots off the crossbar in the first half and dominated the entirety of the match, keeping Jamaica at bay save for one or two hardly troublesome scoring chances.

Yes, it would have been nice to see a few more goals in this match, but the three points were achieved nonetheless.

Tied atop Group A, six points remain on the table. Life is good. Here’s a brief video of the capacity crowd celebrating the full time whistle.
